The Pilgrim's Progress

Released

This frozen French coldwave act decided to document their bizarre anti-religious stage show for their live label debut. The liner notes describe the performance, which included film projections, soundbaths, and apparently samurai. Divorced of that context, the progress made by this pilgrim is largely abstract one, but still fascinating – German shouting, drum machines, and Gothic synthesizers fill the space the visuals normally would and inspire the mind’s eye to put together its own story. It’s not a comforting story.
