Shakin’ Street

Released

A perfect example of the kind of clatter that’d have the joy ProTooled out of it in today’s industry, French act Shakin’ Street’s second slab of vampiric rock feels chaotic in all the best ways. It’s definitely a deliberate amateurishness — produced by Blue Oyster Cult mastermind Sandy Pearlman and featuring former Dictator/future man of Manowar Ross “The Boss” Friedman on guitar, it’s not like they didn’t know what they were doing. A lot of the charm comes from the unpracticed feel of French actress and former Jimmy Page/future Damon Edge flame Fabienne Shine, whose chirping vocals bring a Runaways-style energy to power-pop gems like “No Compromise” and “Susie Wong.” Like its alternate title says: solid as a rock.
