Packaging and repackaging Gary Numan’s hit era wasn’t something too surprising, especially once Numan left Beggars Banquet to found his own label, but with Premier Hits, put together to herald a remastered CD series of his work in the late 1990s, proved to be the keeper. Besides excellent sound throughout and all the hits one would expect – “Are ‘Friends’ Electric” and “Cars” but much more besides – some excellent one-offs are included, particularly his vivid performance on the crisp, haunted funk of “Stormtrooper in Drag.”
