The End of New York

Released

Marc Almond started to formalize a running interest in writing towards the end of the 1990s with his Beautiful Twisted Night collection of lyrics and poetry, followed soon after by his autobiography Tainted Life. The End Of New York, which appeared in 2001, was a full step into spoken word for the first time, with poetry and art in the accompanying book, celebrating one of his favorite cities with gusto and memories. While Almond’s reciting rather than singing, there’s a musical/conversational blend in many of his performances that comes out beautifully here.
