Northern Mexico has become a hotbed for a particular twisted brand of psychedelic music and Tajak is one of the bands pushing it to new exciting frontiers. With their taste for fine-tuned fuzz guitar tones, hypnotic improv passages, and noisy-yet-trippy textures, this trio manages to pack a lot into just eight tracks, from the doom trip that is “El Despertar,” to the slow-burning “En el Centro de la Sierra,” to the ghastly “Ciclos,” to the corrosive “The Drop.”
