Whispering Foils

First coming to light as bass player with the Beefheart-goes-cabaret indie rock band Stump in the 80s, Kev Hopper has covered no end of ground on the experimental fringes since. A perfect place to dive in to his discombobulating oeuvre is this, though. Gently ambient, pinging with bass harmonics and springing, bending metal percussion and sampler manipulation, it hints at the alien exoticism of fourth world music but really, its magic is its wholesale construction of its own (fifth?) world and language.
