Welcome to Reality

Resistant Culture are a California-based D-beat/grindcore band composed of Native American musicians, led by vocalist Anthony Rezhawk and guitarist Katina Culture. (Napalm Death’s Jesse Pintado was a member for several years before his death in 2006.) Their lyrics deal with ecological issues from a nearly eco-militant perspective, as well as Native rights and the usual litany of complaints against Western culture and mainstream politics. Welcome To Reality, their second album, blends furious D-beat hardcore with Native American chants, flutes and hand percussion, and throws in samples of Native activists speaking. It’s a powerful statement and shows that punk rock can be the voice of any community’s rage.
