Velocifero

A change of labels to Nettwerk heralded a bit of a new era for Ladytron, with their fourth album, 2008’s Velocifero, becoming their biggest commercial success to that point, even more gratifying because they had steadily built on their darkly elegant and powerful electronic sound rather than simply changing gears. Songs like the stomping “Ghosts” and the shimmering “Tomorrow” featured some of Helen Marnie’s best vocals yet, while Mira Aroyo had a couple of Bulgarian-sung turns on the opening “Black Cat” and a cover of Kiril Marichkov’s “Kletva.”
