This Love Is Real

Released

This 1970 album kicks off with the classic Chicago soul swing of Wilson’s hit “(I Can Feel Those Vibrations) This Love Is Real.” At times superbly funky, at times pure sweet soul, several members of Motown’s legendary Funk Brothers session players including Benny Benjamin, James Jameson and Earl Van Dyke provided a superlative backing for Wilson’s distinctive vocals. This Love Is Real straddles the more traditional 60’s soul sound and the newly emerging tougher funk sound pioneered by the likes of James Brown, Norman Whitfield and Sly Stone; well-played, well-written, top-level classic soul.
