A Russian/Ukrainian composer living in Paris, Galperine created this album from live instruments which he then manipulated, meaning that this terrifying orchestra is just one trumpet player, one cello player, and a singer. This is that Fall of the Ice Kingdom shit, that Doomsday Lunch Special, that Dark Eastern Descent. It’s the second to last scene of the movie, and things are not going well! That kind of spiritual shadow, and done often by film composers, but rarely this well. Galperine has a real sense of how to drag us slowly through the blackest of water and how to make us feel cold for hours after we get out.
