The Key of Dreams

Released

Section 25 began to more fully walk their own path with their second album The Key of Dreams; while still very much in a particular space that a lot of bands, whether on a Factory-associated label or not, were sonically comfortable in, the sense of testing boundaries and possibilities is richer here. There’s a sense of fragmented murkiness throughout, not quite psychedelic as such but disorienting, Larry Cassidy’s vocals often (though, as with “The Wheel,” not always) dislocated. It all culminates with “Sutra,” a nearly quarter-hour long slow flowing dark jam.
