The Fool

Part of his continuing work under various names, Pascal Pinkert’s second album leading the trio  Ambassade, 2023’s The Fool, finds the Dutch artist further exploring how the more understated experimental energy of artier late 20th century electronic/industrial music can apply all too well to the darker landscapes of later years. Found sound sample loops, stark clattering or briskly minimal percussion, shadowy guitar scraping and more all balance out with a certain relative catchiness on songs like “Commando,” “Brand In De Straten” and “Verwidjer Jezelf.”
