The Days After

Released

Chalk and Suzuki have collaborated a number of times over the years, both as a duo, and in the Ghosts Of Water trio with Naoko Suzuki; Chalk has also released a number of albums on Suzuki’s Siren Records imprint. The Days After first appeared in 2003 as a small-run CD-R on Three Poplars, the label Chalk ran with sometime collaborator Christoph Heemann. Suzuki’s interest in field recordings is front and centre here, and Chalk gracefully frames this material with buzzing, metallic drones, played at low level: the whole thing feels like it’s been left out to face the elements, flecked with rust and coated in moss.
