Combining the Entombed long sleeves from their debut with the Opeth bellbottoms from its follow-up and slathering The Crow-style makeup all over their already-pale faces, Tribulation arrived at their own unique thing on their third album. It’s a natural evolution while still feeling totally revolutionary: gothic melodic death metal with fog-shrouded atmosphere billowing around the giant NWOBHM riffs. Similar things have been tried before. Then again, Dracula wasn’t the first vampire. He just perfected it.
