Raw Power cover
Released

Iggy Pop pulls the shattered glass from his skin, flings it at the audience, knows they’ll like it. Largely free from the art rock bullshit that cluttered their earlier efforts, Raw Power lives up to its name – heart full of napalm, indeed. There’s a reason both punk and metal bands love it. Its songs have been covered by everyone from Guns ‘n’ Roses to Monster Magnet to Ministry. “Gimme Danger” luxuriates in its sleaze, “Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell” sends the visage there with a razor blade, “Search and Destroy” always finds its target. Neither the Bowie mix nor the Pop mix provide the perfect presentation, but Pop’s redlining really brings the intended pain.
