It’s understandable why Testament aren’t in the Big Four — they came later, for one thing, and for another they don’t sound that different than the blueprints Metallica and Megadeth laid out. Here, Chuck Billy even sounds like the middle ground between James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine. Their third full-length shows why they’re so respected: beautifully complex thrash songs that still get their Hellraiser hooks in ya. A thematic piece about how badly human beings are screwing up the environment (still relevant!), this hits between Mother Earth’s eyes with unheard warnings like the title track and “Greenhouse Effect.”
