Point of Entry

Released

British musician/ producer Jonny Nash favors far-flung collaborations: be it Angeleno Suzanne Kraft, Italian ambient master Gigi Masin, Indonesian tarawangsa player Teguh Permana, or Romanian pianist Ana Stamp. His last solo outing was 2019’s Make A Wilderness, so Point of Entry is a welcome return for one of the more intrepid ambient artists around. Emphasis is on the electric guitar, allowing its slow, spindly lines to swirl and accrue, with the gentlest touches of metallophone, sax, and keys to add some morning sun warmth. Some moments recall John Martyn or Vini Reilly at his most diffuse, while others are perfect for morning yoga routines. There’s enough reverb and delay to suggest the idyllic: the English countryside, a Majorcan coastline, or your backyard when the dew is still on the grass.
