Matir Gaan: Songs From The Earth

Released

Bengali native Hussain made his way to Rimini and met a musician named Andrea Rusconi (aka PAQ). As part of a community project centered on refugee stories, the two recorded these songs, originally part of a Sufi mystic tradition sung by the Baul musicians.  Rusconi works on synths like the meaty Crumar and Hussain sings in a steady tenor, and the result feels very much like two guys setting up in the cafeteria and going for it, but after a significant amount of rehearsal and preparation. Wears well, appreciates with repeated plays.
