Mary, Scherrie & Susaye

Released

The album title gives a clue to the continuing personnel changes the Supremes went through in the 70s. This was the final line-up for the group with Mary Wilson the only original member and Scherrie Payne and Susaye Greene the eighth and ninth Supremes respectively. The album is from 1976 and sees the group embracing disco in an extremely attractive and effective manner. The churning disco-funk of lead single You’re My Driving Wheel was just one of several serious dance floor tracks that makes this album particularly popular with DJs. See also the seductive Don’t Want To Be Tied Down and Come Into My Life — a record with a superbly lengthy intro and full of the kind of funky drum breaks that DJs and dancers adore. This album is easily one of the Supremes’ finest post-Diana Ross moments.
