Magalhães: Missa Veni Domine & Missa Vere Dominus est

One of several unjustly ignored Portuguese composers of the late-16th/early-17th century, Filipe de Magalhães directed the music at Royal Chapel in Lisbon between 1623 and 1641. He is seldom performed today, which makes this recording of two of his parody Masses especially important and valuable — though what make it enjoyable are the high quality of the polyphonic writing and the sumptuous singing of the Cupertinos ensemble.
