Portland-via-New York producer David Abravanel generally specialises in fairly delicate electronica with his Dial F alias - but here he’s turned the noise right up and then some. A long time fan of industrial, noise and power electronics, he nonetheless never shied away from acknowledging when the transgressive aspects of these sounds became problematic or even a vehicle for crypto (or not-so-crypto) Fascism. As a Jewish man, this latter tendency was felt particularly acutely, and this project — “Jewish Power Electronics” — is an attempt to explore his relationship to noise, esotericism, excess and his own heritage. Incorporating his own distorted musings and a sampled interview with Coil / Current 93 / Death In June etc collaborator Rose McDowall, it’s an unflinching and mind-bending journey.
