Matthew McBriar and Andrew Ferguson are Bicep, a duo somewhere between Fuck Buttons and Plaid, and a little bit to the left of both. They bring all of their loves and likes into their little electro cabin and, true to the Ninja Tune approach, they seem to like more various musics than most. There’s a lot of rhythm programming rhythm here but beat science is not really the duo’s focus. Big chunks of this feel like a kind of international pop, maybe something from an Asian sci-fi movie about a passionate band of young neurodivergent crime fighters who are shaped like tiny cubes. Someone here plays the drums really well? And somebody really likes Enigma?
