H.P. Lovecraft II

Released

Psych rockers H.P. Lovecraft may be most notable for grabbing their moniker before any metal band could. No mere dabblers in the occult, they. Their second long player opens with their depiction of the protagonist of Lovecraft’s Antarctic adventure, “At the Mountains of Madness,” grappling with the otherworldly insanity he’d witnessed. Partially improvised by a burnt-out touring act given access to psychedelic pedals and (allegedly) psychedelic drugs, this is an unexpectedly nightmarish ride for the genre – their flowers are powered by the color out of space.
