The latest offering from Brooklyn soft rock project Office Culture, aka Winston Cook-Wilson, finds him stretching his talents over an expansive 16-track double album. The electric piano gloop, sharp mind and raised eyebrow of his previous efforts are still present, but like his clear heroes Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, Cook-Wilson is keen to show off some of the other strings to his bow. The glitching stylistic ADHD of modern pop, Bjork-like art rock, 90s hip-hop and R&B, ambient and more are reflected in the glistening patchwork of sounds and samples that swirl around a suite of intelligent, self-deprecating songs, with a clutch of guest vocalists adding further to the depth and range on display.
