Delaware

Released

One of the first American shoegaze albums as such, Drop Nineteens’ 1992 debut release Delaware was also another excellent entry in the run of Boston-area bands working in the realm of underground/alternative rock in those years. The guitar/vocal/songwriting combination of Greg Ackell and Paula Kelley turned out one memorable number after another, including their exuberant flagship song “Winona” and the amusingly titled “Reberrymemberer.” But credit also to a smart cover of Madonna’s “Angel,” which they turned into a slow anthemic flow of sound.
