A Grammy-nominated set of pieces composed by University of Pennsylvania-based composer James Primosch, who died in 2021. Primosch and the Crossing fit well together — both share a sense of spiritual urgency, literary adventure, and a taste for rich, challenging harmony. The centerpiece is the exhilarating title track, which animates a gorgeous passage by author Marilynne Robinson with huge, wild chords.
