Beware The Heavens

A Scandinavian supergroup if there ever was one – vocalist/keyboardist Kimberly Goss (Dimmu Borgir), guitarists Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom) and Jesper Stromblad (In Flames), bassist Sharlee D’Angelo (Arch Enemy), and drummer Ronny Milianowicz (nothing notable) joined forces to basically create a supercharged tribute to Warlock. Laiho and Stromblad bring the fire as expected – this debut even includes two showcase instrumentals for them – but Goss does Doro proud with her powerful singing on the title track, “Venomous Vixens,” and Xena ode “The Warrior Princess.” It’s about as deep as that syndicated sword-and-sorcery show, and just as fun.
