The Malian guitar whiz plays tribute to his father by doing an album entirely of his compositions—Vieux does Ali, with Khruangbin backing him up. I maintain this trio is both popular and wildly underrated: they set up a space and a harmonic center with incredible deftness and restraint, while keying each of their sounds to the tiniest adjustments of the others.
